History

Vining Law Office is deeply rooted in Somerville Massachusetts and traces its roots to the law practice of Charles W. Vining (pictured to the right, standing with the Middlesex Civil Clerk in 1979) . Attorney Vining graduated from Suffolk Law School in 1962. In 1967 he opened a law firm with several other local attorneys in Union Square Somerville. In 1979 he purchased the building where Vining Law Office operates from today. From 1979 through 2005, Charles W. Vining ran a law practice dealing with real estate, personal injury, workers’ comp, estate planning and divorce. His wife Annette L. Vining and daughter Janice also worked in the firm.

In 1998, Charles youngest son Kenneth C. Vining joined the firm and they reorganized as Vining and Vining, LLP.

In 2000, Kenneth’s wife, Elizabeth A. Vining started at the firm as a secretary. Realizing this was what she wanted to do she applied to law school and after briefly working elsewhere, in 2005 she joined Kenneth and they reorganized as Vining Law Office, LLC. The firm has been a family run firm from the beginning and will continue to be in the future. Presently, Kenneth and Elizabeth are the principal partners. Kenneth’s practice covers landlord/tenant disputes, wills and trusts, and personal injury law. Elizabeth is exclusively a real estate attorney representing buyers, sellers and/or banks in the purchase or sale of real estate. In addition to Ken and Ellie there is another associate, Attorney Lynn Chun who works with Ellie in the real estate department and Elena-Marija Grcic handles all the daily administrative duties.
